Robinson Forestry is an independent forestry consultancy working with estates, landowners, farmers and organisations across the Midlands and North of England.

We advise on and manage a broad range of forestry work, from individual woodland projects through to long-term estate management and large-scale woodland creation programmes.

Our story

Robinson Forestry was established by Charles Robinson in 2022.

After working across public and private sector forestry, Charles wanted to build a forestry business that combined high professional standards with practical delivery and direct relationships with clients.

The business has grown considerably since then, largely through repeat work and referrals.

Today, Robinson Forestry brings together forest managers and tree professionals with experience across private estates, commercial forestry, woodland creation, conservation, arboriculture and public-sector land management.

Growth has given us more depth and capacity, but the way we work remains personal and proactive. Clients know who is responsible for their work, can speak to them directly, and can rely on us to communicate early, stay ahead and keep projects moving.

How we work

Good forestry starts with understanding the woodland and what the owner wants to achieve.

Sometimes the answer is straightforward. Often it means balancing timber, biodiversity, grants, access, tree safety, landscape, regulation, cost and the long-term future of the woodland.

Our role is to work through those things, explain the options clearly and recommend a sensible way forward.

We are equally comfortable producing the strategy and getting involved in the delivery. Depending on the project, that might mean dealing with the Forestry Commission, preparing a grant application, marketing timber, procuring contractors, overseeing operations and staying involved with the woodland over many years.

That practical delivery experience matters. It means the advice we give has to work outside the report.

Independent advice

Robinson Forestry is an independent consultancy.

We work with a wide range of contractors, timber buyers and other specialists, selecting the right people for the particular project rather than approaching every job in the same way.

For our clients, that means we can look at the whole picture and advise on what we think is the best course of action for their woodland, their objectives and their budget.

Independence is particularly important where significant expenditure, timber income or long-term commitments are involved.

Do the right thing

There is one principle we come back to regularly within Robinson Forestry: do the right thing.

It isn't intended as a marketing slogan. It is simply a useful test of how we work. Give clients the advice we believe is right. Be open about the options and constraints. Raise issues early. Maintain high professional standards. Look after the people working on our projects. Consider the environmental consequences of what we recommend. And take responsibility for seeing things through.

Forestry involves decisions that can shape land for decades. We think that deserves care, good judgement and a long-term view.

A broad forestry team

One of the strengths of Robinson Forestry is the breadth of work undertaken across the team.

Our work covers woodland management, harvesting, woodland creation, Countryside Stewardship, grants, tree risk, deer and squirrel management, forestry EIA and wider environmental and regulatory work.

That breadth means different expertise can be brought into a project when it is needed, while the client retains a clear point of contact. It also means we tend to look at the woodland as a whole rather than treating each issue in isolation.
